    Ski Homes for Sale
    by Julie Olsen

If you are looking for a place to purchase a ski home then you may want to consider looking into the popular ski resort town of Park City, Utah. The Park City UT real estate market offers a great selection of ski homes to choose from whether it's ski in ski out, a short walk to the slope or a short 10 minute drive from the lift. It is also the easiest ski resort community to get to which is located a short 30 minute drive from the Salt Lake International Airport that offers over a 100 non-stop destinations.

Park City second home owners on the East Coast can take an early morning flight and be on the slopes skiing that afternoon. Time is valuable these days. Many people who buy a Park City second home ski getaway enjoy how fast and easy it is to get to compared to other ski resort communities. It's nice to be able to take a non-stop flight since winter conditions can cause airport delays. Not having a non-stop flight can sometimes really extend the time it takes to get to your ski home.

The snow is incredible in Park City as well. It is light and fluffy and known to have some of the greatest snow on earth. Powder hounds love skiing the Park City and surrounding ski resorts because of the awesome powder. Much of it has to do with the low humidity in Utah which also makes the cold not so cold.

The elevation of Park City Utah is around 7000 feet so it is not as high as the ski resorts in Colorado. Many people find they don't get sick from the increase in elevation compared to the ski communities in Colorado which can be closer to 9000 feet at the base. Park City's elevation is also much higher than those on the East Coast so the snow conditions are better and more reliable. So the elevation in Park City is just right-- not to low and not too high.

The a ski slope location is like a beach front location. The closer to the ski slope the more a home will cost you. So depending on your budget you can find a luxury ski in ski out home or a more affordable family home a short drive away. Luxury ski in ski out homes are generally in the millions and a Park City home a short drive away can be as low as $500,000. It's best to work with a Local Park City Realtor who is familiar with the area to help you find the home that is right for you and your family.

If you are concerned with the up keep of your Park City second home, then you can hire a local property management company who can keep an eye on your home as well as maintain it while you are gone. You can also place it in a rental pool with one of the local property management companies if it is allowed in the subdivision to help generate income to help offset some of the costs for your ski home. You must first check with the CC&Rs for your subdivision since some do not allow nightly rental but your local Park City Realtor can help you get that information.

The Park City area is also a great place in the summer with so many outdoor recreational activities to choose from. It's becoming a great golf getaway to escape the heat & humidity in the south. There are over 300 miles of improved trails for hiking, biking & horseback riding. The Jordanelle Reservoir offers nearby water sports such as water skiing & wake boarding. The Provo River offers world class fly fishing. There is something for everyone in the family. So your Park City ski home can bring you and your family joy year round and is so easy to get to.
